RE: Under 15

Terry Allen of Coffs Harbour, NSW Australia asks...

My question is about how a match result is recorded when it has been decided with Kicks from the Penalty Mark. If the match finishes 1-1 at the end of extra time and the Kicks from the Penalty Mark go end 5-4 in favour of the blue team, should the result be officially recorded as a 6-5 victory to the blue team (ie the aggregate of goals scored in every part of the match) or simply as a 1-1 draw which was then decided 5-4 with Kicks from the Penalty Mark?

Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol

The latter. For example, in the 2002 World Cup, Spain had two of their knockout round games decided by kicks from the mark.
Spain/Ireland: 1:1 a.e.t. (1:1, 1:0) 3:2 PSO
Spain/Korea: 0:0 a.e.t. 3:5 PSO
The scores in parentheses are the full-time and half-time scores.

Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino

Team A/Team B: 2:2 aet (after extra time) 3:4 pso

Ref Volshol's got it right. The match was a draw, the advancing team did so by virtue of a shoot-out and that is NOT considered a part of the match, but only an extension held for the purpose of advancing a winner.
