Question Number: 22516Law 15 - Throw In 11/14/2009RE: Rec, Competitive Under 19 William Guynes of Mechanicsville, MD USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 22500 I think an important addendum to this question is that the answer is the same even if the ball did so between the goal posts and under the crossbar! The restart would be a goal kick for the defense. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Referee Guynes Yes that is correct. A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in nor directly from an indirect free kick. The restart is a goal kick

If an IDFK goes into the opponent's goal untouched (directly), it comes back out with a goal kick restart, and so it goes as well the throw-in into an opponent's goal. If it is thrown directly into one's own goal, it will be a corner kick.
