Question Number: 23937Kicks From The Penalty mark 9/15/2010RE: Under 17 Dave of DM, IA US asks...Can you give some score keeping tips when determining the winner by KFTPM? For example, do you record the # of each player who takes a turn kicking etc.? Also do you make a signal after a goal in this situation. I always point to the center circle after a normal goal because that's where the restart will be. But since there really isn't a restart in KFTPM, what do you do? Any tips are welcome. Thank you in advance. Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Dave In KFTPM the referee should keep a record of the number of every player that takes a penalty. In addition a record of whether a goal is scored or not should also be kept. As regards indicating that a goal has been scored that is not necessary unless it is uncertain such as a hairline goal.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham The worst referee error on kicks from the mark is letting any player kick a second time before every other eligible player has kicked once. Record the number of each kicker! Most goals are obvious. But, discuss with your assistant referee how you want a signal for good goal when the ball goals in/out. Flag? Verbal confirmation? Good communication with the AR lets you confirm the goal. This is likely the only time a referee signal (indicating a good goal) is necessary.
