Can the goal keeper take a throw in from the side?

Yes. Outside the penalty area, the keeper is treated like any other field player.
(The coach might think it is a dangerous thing to do, but the referee will allow it.)

Hi Karine
Yes the goalkeeper outside his penalty area is just like any other player. He can take throw ins, free kicks, penalty kicks, etc.
