Question Number: 28478Law 15 - Throw In 6/6/2014RE: Rec Adult Karine Boundy of St. Thomas, Ontario Canada asks...This question is a follow up to question 28470 Excuse my naitivy. Does the goal keeper have to be outside the crease to receive the throw in? AND Can I use my hands receiving the throw in? Or do I just use my body? I'm asking as our team's gone from FUTSAL to 5 on 5 and a team member that's use to throwing to me ( goal keeper ) In Futsal as I can receive it with my hands and have 5 seconds to get rid of it. When my poor Team Member went to throw it at me at the game. I shook my head and pointed up the line. (Safer) This team was fast and I didn't know if I the goalkeeper could retrieve the throw in with my hands? Much Thanks for your time I appreciate the feedback. Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham Karine: Under TLOG, a keeper may not handle a ball directly from a throw in by a teammate. The keeper must play the ball with body or feet.

View Referee Dennis Wickham profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Karine In Futsal the ball is kicked in rather than thrown and the goalkeeper may not touch the ball with his hands when he has received the ball directly from a kick-in by a team-mate. In the regular outdoor game the same applies to a throw in so the goalkeeper must just use his body to control the ball. The goalkeeper can receive the ball in any location from a throw in / kick in.
