Question Number: 29231Law 3 - Number of Players 3/6/2015RE: College rishabh singh of noida, up india asks...This question is a follow up to question 29146 Can we change a goal keeper at the start of a tie breaker or not? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Rishabh This question is asked regularly. Simple answer is yes. A team can change the goalkeeper at any time provided it is done at a stoppage and that the referee is informed. Kick from the Penalty Mark is a stoppage and the referee is simply informed. Think about it. Say if a goalkeeper was injured and could not continue what would be expected? A player would put on the goalkeeper jersey and take over that role We see it quite a lot in underage games where perhaps there is no regular goalkeeper or the team has decided to play its better goalkeeper outfield during the game. There is no issue in swapping players at any time. Now as regards substitution the Law does not allow for substitutions after the game has been completed that is at the end of extra time. Now interestingly there is an exception to this in that a team may substitute an injured goalkeeper with another goalkeeper provided the team has not used all of its allocated substitutions.
