Question Number: 30160Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 3/1/2016RE: Adult sam Nile of lagos, Lagos nigeria asks...This question is a follow up to question 27115 If a back pass is giving to the keeper inside the 6 yard box what kick would that be? Is it a penalty or free kick? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Sam, it is an 100% IMPOSSIBILITY for a keeper to be guilty of a deliberate handling infraction of the ball resulting in a PK. The keeper can be awarded a DFK against when outside his PA but inside his own 18 yard PA which includes the 6 yard goal area, The keeper can only be awarded an INDFK against him for his illegal use of hands on the ball if restricted via a deliberate kick tor direct throw in to him by a teammate or a 2nd touch violation after a release or for holding onto the ball longer than the allotted 6 seconds. If any of those handling restrictions were to to occur inside his own 6 yard goal area the keeper would be held accountable and the restart would occur straight back from the point of the offence along the goal area line that parallels the goal line 6 yards away. In cases where an INDFK is awarded closer than ten yards to this minimum of 6 yards to the attackers the defenders still have to be ten yards from the spot of the restart UNLESS they stand on the goal line between the posts under the crossbar. Cheers

View Referee Richard Dawson profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Sam If the goalkeeper handles a deliberate kick from a team mate inside the penalty area it us an offence punished by an indirect free kick from where the ball was touched by the hand. If that happens inside the goal area the IDFK is taken from the six yard line directly opposite from where the offence took place.
