Question Number: 31574Other 5/31/2017RE: competitive Adult adam wallace of nakayama, yamagata Japan asks...futsal question. in the event that an extra player from the sub bench runs on to the pitch and stops a goal scoring chance-i understand he gets redcarded and one of the same team also is removed.however, how is play restarted??can penalties be awarded? also,in same scenario that he makes a foul but not necessarily stops a goal scoring chance-how is play restarted?-i cannot understand the rule book on this. thanks Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Adam In Futsal as it was an extra player and not an incorrect substitution procedure the restart is an indirect free kick from where the ball was when play was stopped. That would be the location of the offence. If it was an incorrect substitution then the restart is a direct free kick or penalty kick from where the offence took place. The restart is the same if play is stopped for a regular foul with no possible advantage and it results in a caution again with an IDFK restart. It will be interesting to see whether Futsal adopts the LotG change by making this a DFK offence for offences committed by substitutes / team officials that interfere with play on the FOP.
