RE: Rec Adult

russell of Sydney, Australia asks...

This question is a follow up to question 32201

Well said Joe and Richard.

The leagues think they need to entertain and couldn't do so without the stars. So so wrong.
Let's be entertained by the players footballing skills - not their acting abilities.

I don't favour the idea of using post game review panels making all the tough call's as it takes away the match officials responsibilities.
The 'so what if I get it wrong, the panel will deal with it' problem that effected Rugby League here for so long.

As you say, heavy bans from the league (AND THE CLUBS) will help stop it.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi
For me VAR would have sorted this. No point in everyone bar the referee and assistants seeing that it is the 'wrong' decision and nothing being done in the game. Retrospection also has it problems as some clubs will take a ban for a player if they can get three valuable points.

Given we have video review there will be situations that demand intervention particularly in cases of violence more so than cheating but integrity is a character trait not a legal one!
Cheers
